Kultur 11, Michael Nizinski

The Breaking Down the Wall article was very interesting because one would never assume that some of the German populi wouldn't want the wall to be taken down. They do have good reasons but as a nation it would create separation and frustration between the two sides which I believe might turn into a civil war between them.
Germans Real Divide article seemed very petty to me. The fact they are fighting for no reason seems like they don't have enough to do with their time.
Brennpunkt Kultur was also an interesting read. Saxony has a lot of history with WW2, companies based there and some important invention that came from there for example the washing machine and toothpaste. If I ever have the chance I would like to visit in see the church that was rebuilt after the war and Der Zwinger in Dresden.

AMD 6 Michael Nizinski

For this AMD I watched a movie called Schlussmacher. It is a German romantic comedy movie on Netflix. It came out in 2013. The movie is about a guy that professionally breaks up relationships after he is hired by one side. In one instance in the movie, the persons he breaks apart the one person is still attached and in love with the girl. So he goes and tried to help to keep them separated so it can count as a separation. Well the guy that's still in love becomes attached to the main character and ends  up having to be his driver throughout the movie to take him to the break ups. So while taking him around they have a lot of funny encounters. By the end of the movie the main character realizes what he was doing was quits his job and loves in love. The movie as a whole was actually really funny and would recommend it to the class to watch.

Kultur 10, Michael Nizinski,

The article about the "Dinner for Who" described the show that is watched every year at New Years by Germans. This show seems boring and similar to the "Three Stooges". The only reason I would watch this on New Years is that the article says there are drinking games for the show.
The "Sorry we're closed" article I like that nothing is open on Sunday. It forces people to take a rest and not have to do anything. To much work is never good for anybody and I think we should have this in the US.
Another thing I believe we should take from Germans, is their Fathersday or Männertag. If I ever become a father I know this would be a day that would be enjoyable for me.
In 365 Dinge number 220 is one of the things I would like to do if I was in Germany. 220 Is the Brooklyn Beef Club a restaurant that has Rib-Eye T-Bone and Porter-House Steak. Hmmmm
The paragraph on the Brother Grimm was interesting. Not one for fairy tales, I thought Brothers Grimm was a fairy tale not a publishing company that collected them and published them.
I liked the reading on Schweiz. It was very interesting to learn about Schweiz. I have a friend that lives in Zurich and at the moment has an internship at a bank their. From what he has told me, they actually speak a form of Swiss-German which is slightly different from the German we are learning.
Fest und Feiertage article was also interesting. From all the readings today it seems Germany has always some kind of celebration going on. Wish US was more like this.

AMD 4, Michael Nizinski

The tv show was called drive it on www.dw.de. They went over the Porche Macan. It is a small compact SUV and has a lot of cool features. IT has a button in the Auto for the type of driving you are doing. For example if you are driving off road you hit a button and the suspension lifts the car about 2". Or if you are going down a very steep slow, you can hit another button that will control the the car for you. That is as far as I got because the site stopped working and I couldn't get the rest of the video to load.

I like the  way the Germans have documentation for everything and have certificates for skills they possess. The place I worked in the past have continuously hired people that said they were able to do a certain or specific job but later found out they were lying on their application. I personally like the rules Germans have for neighbors.  The only one I would change is the BBQ's. The rest I quite like and wish we had the same ones here in the US. The patriotism article I also understood because when someone shows a lot of patriotism for their own country it shows in a way that their country is better than everyone else's. And Germans aren't emotional so they probably don't care to much less they are winning in something.

AMD3, Michael Nizinski

I love the wind. I have the window open all the time. Even now in the winter. It can be two degrees outside and it will still be open. My girlfriend will sit there and complain wrapped in blankets about the window being open. I am surprised that these studies done in German about the danger of drafts isn't spread around here in the US.

AMD2 Michael Nizinski

Für diese AMD sehe ich Deutsch Nachrichten. Ich habe kleine verstanden. Sie sprechen schnell.  Angela Merkel hat etwas an 2002. Was? E spielt starken gegen Cleveland Cavaliers. Hat er dreiundzwanzig Punkte und acht Rebounds. Die Dallas Mavericks haben das Speil gewinnen.

Kultur 7, Michael Nizinski

The first article I read was about Thanksgiving. Germans do not have a Thanksgiving, but like the idea of having a nice meal, sitting with their family, and giving thanks. They found thinks from outside to decorate the table which is inexpensive and make it look nice. For example, pumpkins were used to make candle holders.  The second was about Germans line jumping. I found this article quite funny, for advice the author suggested that you eat garlic the night before because Germans don't like garlic breath , stay alert for an open counter so you can be the first to sprint there and get it, and to watch out for the person behind you because they will try to slowly sneak ahead of you. The StudenterernmäBigungen is  similar to the one in the USA. The difference in the US is we don't need to show it, we can just stat we are a student and get the discount, where as in German I believe they would want proof. The article about shopping states that germans prefer smaller shopping stores, bag their own groceries, bring their own bags, and shop in all quantities (not buying for the month) when they shop. The next one I read was about Stuttgart. I didn't find much interesting except it has a Porsche and Mercedes-Benz Museum. They have auto-factorys for Porsche, Daimler AG and that they have a lot of vineyards. The FuBball ind Profi-Sport in Mitteleuropa, just talked about how much Germans love soccer and other professional sports played in Germany which include, Hockey, Tennis and Basketball. The last article was about Munich. I only found a few things interesting that they have there and that they have a museum for BMW, they host Octoberfest, and they have two world famous soccer clubs (FC Bayern-Munich and TSC 1860).

AMD1,Michael Nizinski

Für mein AMD habe ich Nachrichten gelesen. Der erste Artikel ist über Machthabers Kim Jong  Un und seinen Onkel  Jang Song Thaek. Kim Jong Un hatte seinen Onkel getötet.

Test Post

Mein Lieblingswort ist Bargeld.
